With Mother’s Day right around the corner, hopefully, you’re planning to take some time to honor and celebrate your mom. Mothers take on a lot of roles for their children – cook, teacher, and peacemaker, to name a few. But, have you ever considered that moms are also logistics experts?

You read that right. Mothers around the world are supply chain masterminds, yet they rarely get credit for it. Let’s unpack a few ways that moms showcase their aptitude for transportation and logistics.

Transportation

At Easley, we move freight from point A to point B all day long. But, that freight isn’t in the backseat shouting and fighting over the Nintendo. It’s no small task getting a car full of hyper kids to their ballgame on time, yet mothers manage to do it on a regular basis.

Not only do they transport kids around – moms know how to optimize cargo space! You need her to haul 5 kids along with backpacks, groceries, and a tuba? Mom says, “No problem.”

Inventory Management

Those Pop-Tarts don’t get into the pantry by themselves! Mothers are excellent inventory managers, seeing to it that their families stay well-supplied around the clock. From groceries to toothpaste, she always knows what her kids need.

Let’s not forget about her aptitude for cold chain logistics, either! Chances are, your mom has her Kroger route mapped out so that the ice cream doesn’t melt by the time she gets home.

Safety First

“Put on your seatbelt… Wear your helmet… Look both ways!”

Though we all dreaded those words as children, it’s now clear that she was just trying to keep us safe. Safety is a critical element of the transportation industry, and mothers set an incredible example.

Happy Mother’s Day

All silliness aside, moms do a tremendous amount of behind-the-scenes labor for their families. This Mother’s Day, let’s show them the appreciation they deserve! Thank you, moms, for all that you do!
